MIDWIFERY

As defined by the world health organization (WHO), midwifery encompasses care of women during pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period, as well as care of the newborn. It includes measures aimed at preventing health problems in pregnancy, the detection of abnormal conditions, the procurement of medical assistance when necessary, and the execution of emergency measures in the absence of medical help. The Midwifery program at Hope Higher Institute of Healthcare Professions is vital to save the lives of mothers and children. It will strengthen quality midwifery education in accordance with the framework set forth by World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), to train & equip future midwives with the knowledge and skills to improve maternal life and care for women across the lifespan.
